Initial Trip in Urban Village - She is in Urban Village

This city is my most familiar alien land. It is the third time that I visit this city, but it is the first time that I get to know it profoundly.

Today we visited the urban villages where we would shoot: Meiyuan New Village and Kemulang Village, and these villages really left a deep impression on me.

To be honest, the living environment of these villages is not good. One of the problems is that the building layout is not reasonable, and the two buildings in this image are good examples. They are adjacent to each other from the north to the south. The distance between the two buildings is too small, leading that the north building can not get sunlight. And the privacy can not be guaranteed.  People can have a clear view of the opposite room.

In addition, the basic facilities on their roads are also defective, such as the drainage system. When we arrived in Meiyuan New Village, it was raining heavily. We found that the water on the road could not be discharged out by the drainage system, but could only converge into a small river, flowing out of the village along the road. This is really inconvenient for pedestrians.

However, compared with the poor physical conditions, the social environment is really good, and the interpersonal relationship here is harmonious. Residents like to gather outside shops to chat or play poker. Besides, during the heavy rain,  some customers were sitting in this shop to  take shelter from the rain, and occasionally chatted with the shopkeeper.  They got along with each other very naturally, which indicates the good relationship.

In summary, the urban villages are complex. One the one hand, the poor living environment means these villages are less developed compared with other regions in Guangzhou; on the other hand, residents here are not indifferent to others, not like other developed regions. Therefore, although these areas are located in Guangzhou City, they look like more rural rather than urban.
