Fengzhen Chen's One Day - She is in Urban Village

Today's plan is to record one day of the shop owner, Fengzhen Chen, who runs a store. Because many villagers buy daily necessities in this shop, Chen gets up early every day to open the shop. It is Chen’s two-year-old son who accompanied her to come here. Because the son is very young,  Chen would be worried if he stays alone at home, so she always brings her son with her. In the process of shooting Chen’s preparations in the shop, the little kid nibbled ice cream while watching us. He is really cute.

 

It was soon  noon after opening, and Chen needed to take her son home and cook because the child was still too young to stay outside for so long. So at noon, She has to take her son home for lunch and a rest.

 

Something indicates that Chen's life center is now entirely on her son. The shop is mainly managed by her parents and younger brother. Chen also go to help when they open or they are busy. Even in the shop, Chen still tries to spend spare time with her son, sometimes playing together, sometimes teaching her son to write.

 

When shooting in the afternoon, an unexpected incident occurred. A lot of waste accumulated in front of the Xianghua Shop, which was not hygienic. This was not a big deal before, but now because of the epidemic, this situation has been reported to the relevant departments. In the afternoon, two officers came here to check the situations and put forward rectification suggestions. In the process of the negotiation of the officers, I found that Chen had rich experience in dealing with these incidents, and did not feel panic. Instead, she argued strongly, and finally reached a consensus with the officers to ensure that these waste products in front of  the door would been cleaned up. The emergency was solved.

 

Evening is the busiest time for the shop. There are some tables and chairs for people to use at the door of the store, so many villagers gather here to play poker or chat after dinner, and the business in the store is much better than in the daytime. This situation could last until late at night.

 

At 11:00 p.m., after cleaning up the shop, Chen closed the door and went home with her son. Chen told us in the previous interview that they had operated two stores before. Since they had a son, they were afraid of being busy and transferred the other store to relatives. We asked her whether she preferred to do business or take care of her son. She said that the focus now was on her son, as we have observed. Now that you have a child, you must take good care of him. Looking at the back of Chen and he son, you can feel her love for her son, and you can also feel that she is very satisfied with the life now. We wish Chen’s son to thrive.
