The 2nd Impression of Urban Village - She is in Urban Village

This city is my most familiar alien land. It is the third time that I visit this city, but it is the first time that I get to know it profoundly.

Before the next shooting plan, we took one day to visit the urban village again. Unlike last time, this time the focus was only on Kemulang Village. Since there were many places we had to visit last time, Kemulang was only briefly surveyed. This time, we learned a lot of new situations.

The first is the dressing of villagers, especially women. We found that in the urban village, women's clothes are obviously similar to boys: shorts and big t-shirts. I have hardly seen anyone wearing a skirt, or jewelry or clothing that can embody feminine charm. Occasionally, a girl wearing a skirt will attract the attention of many men. We analyze this may be a way of self-protection for women living in urban villages. Women are inherently disadvantaged groups, and the security of urban villages is not very good, so women want reduce the possibility of danger by reducing their charm.

Secondly, we have a more accurate understanding of the living environment of urban villages. The roads here are very narrow, and most of them are difficult for two vehicles to pass side by side. This also increases the risk of residents walking on the roads. After all, the roads are too narrow, and sometimes there is no enough space to avoid passing vehicles, so it may be dangerous. And many cars on the road are not parked as required, which further squeezes the space used on the road. Besides, the hygienic conditions inside cannot be regarded to be very good. We even saw a dead rat on the road. Overall, the living environment here is really not very good.

But there are still many people who choose to rent a house here because the rent here is really low. If you only rent one room, the rent here is just a few hundred yuan a month, which is really cheap compared to the thousands of rents in the more developed areas of Guangzhou. With this in mind, this kind of living environment is not unacceptable.

Finally, the urban village constitutes a relatively closed area. Residents in the urban village rarely go out of the urban village except for work. Even if they eat, they will try to choose small shops in the urban village instead of good shopping malls outside. This may be affected by the surrounding environment, and this depressed atmosphere also affects people's pursuit of high quality of life.
