Xian Village in the Rain - She is in Urban Village
This city is my most familiar alien land. It is the third time that I visit this city, but it is the first time that I get to know it profoundly.
Today, our plan is to go on a field visit to another typical representative of the urban village in Guangzhou: Xian Village.
As the typical urban villages, Longdong and Xian village represent two different development routes. For Longdong Village, villagers choose to develop by themselves and organize spontaneously to carry out large-scale commercial activities while retaining the original appearance of this village. In contrast, Xian Village is taking another route, that is, accepting the government's relocation and rectification to completely transform the urban village into a modern community. Since Xian Village is located in the center of Tianhe District, surrounded by CBD, urban villages like Xian Village are incompatible with the surrounding modern buildings, so it may be inevitable for Xian Village to undergo government rectification and relocation.
But when we actually entered the relocation building of Xian Village, we found that the layout of the houses here is still very compact. Each house is not transparent from north to south, and there are six households on one floor. Due to the epidemic, we cannot interview the residents here randomly, nor can we know whether they are satisfied with the relocated building now. It is indeed regrettable. I hope to have a chance to come here for a more detailed investigation in the future.
When we arrived at Xian Village, we found that the demolition of Xian Village was not complete now, and there were still a lot of old buildings in this urban village, which was in sharp contrast with the surrounding spectacular CBD commercial buildings.
On the south side, several relocated buildings have been built in Xian Village for resettlement of the original Xian Village residents. Based on the outlook, the new building looks more like a modern residential community compared to the former urban villages.
